Welcome to our Team Page!
This spring the Benjamin F. Goss Bird Club is participating in the Great Wisconsin Birdathon to raise support for statewide bird conservation programs and our own bird-related activities. We are doing this through the fifth annual Great Wisconsin Birdathon, which aims to raise at least $75,000 for our state’s breeding, migrating, and wintering birds.
The Goss Bird Club, or The Goss Hawks as we will be known for the
birdathon, will WALK THE WAUK. The Ice Age Trail winds through Waukesha County for 35+ miles, through habitat varying from open prairie to oak savanna to pine forest and even some urban sections. We have broken up the trail into 28 hikable segments ranging from .62 to 3+ miles. Walking these sections April 15 and June 15, which is peak migration for birds, will give us opportunity to find as many species as possible to hopefully reach our goal.
Goals for The Goss Hawks are to see 150 bird species and raise $ 500. Half will support our local Waukesha area bird projects and half will support eight statewide programs that help meet the year-round needs of Wisconsin’s birds. Local projects we intend to support are building and installing benches at local nature trials, sponsoring nest box trails, and other projects for birds and birders throughout Waukesha County.
Help us help our birds by pledging or donating to The Goss Hawks! You can contribute a set amount or pledge per species. Click one of the DONATE buttons to the left. Your donation or pledge supports the Bird Protection Fund and state-wide projects that protect the year-round migrating, breeding, and wintering needs of Wisconsin's birds. All donations and pledges are tax-deductible.
If you would like to make a per-species pledge, rather than a single donation to our whole team, please pledge to the team captain's page.
Thanks for supporting our team, and for helping our state's birds!
